Welcome to the Poetry Slam Department
The Poetry Slam Department is the home of our flagship program Houston Poetry Slam which is headed by the Slammaster.
Brother Ced has been the Slammaster of Houston Poetry Slam since December 2005. The Slammaster is responsible for running Houston Poetry Slam, insuring that it maintains certification with Poetry Slam Incorporated and fulfills PSI's basic requirements for qualifying local poets to join the Houston Slam Team to be able to partipate in the National Poetry Slam.
Super Slam Week
Since becoming Slammaster Brother Ced has evolved our poetry slam program by focusing Houston Poetry Slam's main activities into a annual festival called Super Slam Week. Brother Ced has a vision informed by ten years of experience in performance poetry, a vision that urged the Board of Writer's Ink to realize poets should benefit from using their talents and abilities in the local slam. Top ranking poets can win prizes during Super Slam Week besides the possiblity of attending major PSI sponsored events.
